Bill to establish Science and Technology University in Pirojpur
A bill has been tabled in Parliament to set up a Science and Technology University at Pirojpur in the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On Thursday (November 18), Education Minister Dipu Moni raised 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Pirojpur Bill-2021' in Parliament.
The bill was later examined within a month and sent to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Education for a report in Parliament.
The bill states that the university will be set up at Pirojpur Sadar. One or more institutes may be set up for higher education and research.
The new law is being enacted in line with other university laws.
The draft law states that the President of Bangladesh and the Chancellor of the university will appoint two vice-chancellors for a four-year term. One of whom will look at academic affairs and the other for administrative activities.
